Epione’s Fall

Reading Time: < 1 minute

I’m pleased to present HyerOCD’s first video proper! Today, we’ll take a personal look into a common compulsion: skin picking. Many people with OCD pick their skin or pull their hair in response to intrusions. In some cases, individuals may pick and pull until they’re bleeding or even use items to avoid stronger intrusive thoughts. As I discussed last month, compulsions form as a defensive behavior that temporary alleviates stress. One’s skin and hair are an omnipresent distraction and become riddled with physical manifestations of mental scars.

Thank you for watching this video and sharing in this aspect of my OCD. I owe a giant thank you to my brother for helping make this video possible. And as always:

Have a great day and always practice self-compassion!
